Celebrating 10 years of their EP. "New Reign" Born of Osiris is taking over venues around the US. With supporting bands Volumes, Within The Ruins, Oceans Ate Alaska, and Fire From The Gods, the New Reign Tour is a match made in heaven. In case you missed out on seeing this tour, here is Grey Fox Live's recap of this incredible show!
The first band take the stage is one that you may not have heard of. Fire from the gods has recently risen to fame, getting played on many radio stations including SeriousXM's Octane Big and getting signed on to some huge upcoming festivals such as Rock the Range and Welcome to Rockville. Fire From The Gods bring a unique sound to the hardcore metal genre, mixing rap, hints of jazz, and cold hard metal making for a listening experience that is not only pleasing to the ears, but effects you on a emotional and physical level. Much like there counterparts on this tour, FFTG has a control over their crowd. When they say "move" the crowd moves, when they say "Make some Noise" the crowd screams their lungs out. Fire From the gods is a band you do not want to miss if they come to a town near you!
The second band to destroy the stage, Within the Ruins, is no stranger to the world of Deathcore. Hailing for Westfield, Massachusetts, Within The Ruins Brings a incredible stage presence. Their passion and energy radiates throughout the crowd from the moment they step on stage. Almost instantly the crowd broke a frenzy, forming mosh pits, crowd surfing, and quite frankly just loosing their minds!
There are a few bands that have had a run the likes of Within the Ruins. Formed in 2013, WTR has proven time and time again that they are kings of the deathcore genre. Playing songs from their upcoming album "Halfway Human" {Releasing March 3rd} as well as songs from albums like "Creatures" and "Phenomena", WTR puts on a show that is not only nostalgic but exciting. You never know just what your going to get when you see Within the Ruins Live!
The third band of the night, hails all the way from Bermingham, UK! Any Guesses? We'll just tell you, It was none other then Oceans Ate Alaska. Joining into the Metalcore scene back in 2011 with their single "clocks", OAA has destroyed stages all around the world. The Ace Of Spades stage, in the middle of Sacramento, was no exception. OAA came with a ferocity and a passion unmatched by any meager metalcore band.
From the moment Oceans Ate Alaska started their first song, you knew that you were about to be blessed with a damn good show. Lead singer Tim Goergen did not skip a beat, never showing any sign of weakness in his performance. His vocals were crisp with that special hint of grunge that set metalcore vocalists apart. OAA made their mark on the Ace of Spades stage, with energy that remained the same all the way to the end of their set.
The fourth band to grace the Ace of Spades with their presence, was a band that does not need any introduction. Before they even took the stage the crowd was moving. Suddenly the venue went dark, and the crowd let out a scream of excitement. Volumes set had began.
We here at Grey Fox Live are still reeling from what we experienced from Volumes set. We have seen many bands that make a venue go nuts, but Volumes took it to a whole new level. With mosh pits pushing the limits of the venue, crowd surfers after crowd surfers, and a energy that felt like a atomic bomb going off. Volumes put on a show that can only be described as "Nuts, Insane, and like a Dis-functional Family". It felt like everyone was connected in one fluent movement, each person with there own demons and struggle, but non of that mattered in those moment. Volumes was not just a band that came to play a show for there fans, They were a band that came to play for their family!
Volumes came to party and that is exactly what they did! Playing song from their Wormholes album as well as a few newer songs including "Feels Good", Volumes provided a full body experience that only they could supply.
Last but not least, Gods of Deathcore, Born Of Osiris took the stage. Celebrating 10 years of their album "New Reign", Born of Osiris played their legendary ep. in its entirety. Watching BOO play this iconic ep. was extremely nostalgic. May it be the breakdown from "Abstract Art" or the lyrical genius of "Bow Down", each song transported you back to when you were listening to their album in your car, trying to not let passerbys gaze upon you headbanging to your hearts content.
Born Of Osiris just recently release "The Eternal Reign" which includes all the songs from "New Reign" remastered. Check it out HERE!
