SILENT PLANET
"This is the end of everything. We'll lose our divisions and forget our names: The precipice of eternity. I caught fire, I caught fire, I caught fire, and you'll watch me burn!" - Silent Planet's - Depths II.
This last Thursday, Grey Fox Live received the honor to photograph Silent Planets first ever headlining show.
The night was one of the most impacting nights that we here at GFL have ever experienced. Silent Planet along with Dayseeker, Ghost Key, and Hail The Sun, took to the stage at Goldfield Trading Post, and put on one incredible show. This tour is one that will go down in the history books of Hardcore music.
The night began with a mad dash through the streets of Sacramento, as the rain drenched every dry surface of the GFL Crew. As we arrived at Goldfield Trading Post, we were met with a line of wet concert goers, who were anxiously waiting for the curtains to pull away and let them into the venue. As the curtain opened, people began to disperse throughout the venue. Silent planets merch table was many people first stop, frantically trying to get 1 of the 30 limited edition tee shirts.
Shortly after opening the band Ghost Key Took to the stage. Opening for such incredible bands must not be easy, but they held their own. Ghost Key came with a passion for their music that is something a lot of bands this day are missing. However, what set them apart from many of the bands in the hardcore scene, was their unconditional love for their fans.
GHOST KEY
Towards the end of Ghost Key's set, lead vocalist Austin O'Brien, gave a very inspiring speech about not being quiet and talking about the struggles of life. He reached out a hand to the members of the crowd, saying that he would love to hear and talk to anyone that needed to talk. Ghost key set the tone for what this show.
DAYSEEKER
As Ghost Key ended their set, Dayseeker took to the stage. This was a very exciting moment for us here at GFL. Dayseeker has been one of our favorite bands since their debut release of what it means to be defeated! Earlier Thursday night we had the honor of talking to a few of the members of Dayseeker, including Rory (Vocals) and Mike (Drums).
When asked about what they were most excited about for this tour, they answered "Getting to spend a month with some of their best friends!". This was seen in the way that they interacted with the members of the other bands. When asked "is their anything that they wanted the world to know? Drummer Mic Karle answered "Our new album will be the best we have ever recorded!"
Back to the show. Dayseeker stormed the stage with a new song from their album releasing some time this year. They had a energy that surged through the crowd, with member of the audience screaming back each lyric as they left Rory's mouth. Dayseeker played with a elegance to them, each note sounding just as the album was recorded. They proved that they belonged on this tour, and that they were not a force to be messed with!
DAYSEEKER
Next a band that is not a stranger to Sacramento, Hail the Sun, arrived on stage. Hail the sun is a very interesting band to say the least. Their sound can be compared to bands like: Dance Gavin Dance, Circa Survive, Chon, and many more. However they have taken the best part of those bands and molded them into something spectacular. Hail the sun put on a insane set, with unmatched passion and energy. Completely taking over the crowd.
HAIL THE SUN
Vocalist Donovan Melero sang with such control over his voice. he sailed around the stage hyping up the crowd, who sang every single lyric of their songs. Their very intricate music rang though out the venue, as the crowd went wild. The anticipation began to raise, as hail the sun sang their last song. Silent Planet was about to play.
SILENT PLANET
Where do we even begin? Silent planet is one of our favorite bands of all time. When they took the stage it was unlike any other show that we had seen them. There was a heaviness, not in a bad way, but in a way that you could feel the raw emotion that radiated from their bodies. Opening the tour with the song Wells, Silent Planet unleashed a barrage of passionate lyrics that hit the crowd like a ton of bricks. They crowd went insane! They sang their hearts out as vocalist Garret Russell bared his heart to them.
The night was one were here at Grey Fox Live will never forget.
